The Great Plains Report Writer
You can use the Report Writer to
perform three basic tasks:
1.
Modify existing reports
2.
Create new reports
3.
Making global changes to all
reports, or selected reports
With the Report Writer, users can change the appearance
of individual reports and customize the system to meet specific needs.
For example, a common modification is changing the layout of an invoice
to match the invoice format you currently use. As an example, the screen
below shows the Great Plains standard Inventory reconciliation report as
printed to the screen.

This report could be opened in the
Report Layout window (as shown below) by clicking the modify button at
the top of the report. In this screen please note the table and field
icons which allow users to drop any data contained with in the Great
Plains system directly onto this report. Drag and drop tools allow users
to resize and position data on the report using the mouse.

Many
predefined reports are included with the accounting system, however
users can create new reports as needed.
